MIDI Controller port issues

I have a synth (Zebra2) channel open.
I have a MIDI controller plugged into the computer inputting midi on port (...), as in it has no assigned port yet.

I can play any selected channel now.

When I assign a certain port, let's say 6, as the input port of that MIDI controller, I can still play any selected channel.

Now for the INSANELY ANNOYING issue: When I assign port number 6 as the MIDI input port on Zebra 2, it receives TWO MIDI Note-On's for each note press on the controller. That is because Zebra2 is selected and is receiving MIDI input both on port 6 and on the universal "Play MIDI notes from any selected channel" port.

Why is this a problem? Because I can't work on synthesis when I have two notes playing on each note press. I can deselect Zebra2 and have it play perfectly fine, but if I try to edit the parameters inside its UI, it gets automatically selected! Infuriating.

This problem can be solved by:

1. Disabling the option to play MIDI notes from any selected channel
2. When you set a MIDI port for a certain controller, it automatically gets removed from the universal "play MIDI notes on any selected channel" port.

PLEASE help me solve this issue! I've been trying to for the past month!
