I hope this makes sense, I'm still very new to it all so please forgive my apparent stupidity.
How do I add automation (gate, filter, volume etc) to individual tracks?
I've noticed in every single track I've seen by other people, they have loads of automation added which really adds to their track's overall sound. The volume on a melody and/or kick/loop etc rises and falls, there's a (continually moving) filter on the bassline etc...
I watched image-line's official beginner's tutorial where they showed how to build a basic loop with a funky bass, and added automation (a filter cutoff envelope on the GMS track). I was able to do that, but my problem is:
I use Sylenth1 for most of my instruments and although I can add a filter, I don't see how to make an automation track like the cutoff envelope in the tutorial, so the filter remains fixed at the one frequency.
I'm left and right clicking on everything and getting nowhere, it's really frustrating. I've loads of melodies and half tracks composed but they sound so sterile and bland in their current state.
Please point me in the right direction.
