waveshaper and wavecandy

i've been watching the fl guru video about distortion. And the first thing i realised when trying to re do it is i cant get a sawwave to look like that. not even close...I tried different setting but it didnt help. The 2nd thing that made me wonder was the pitch of the sawwave itself. Its inbetween d#3 and e3. I really wonder why. Did this serve any purpose?
the first thing that is shown is the unipolar mode. The sawwave turn into a mixture of sinewave and a sawwave at 0:32. But when i do that the sawwave just gets bigger.

And in bipolar mode the shape the of the waveform does not represent the one in wavecandy. Its kinda like looking through a mirror. here a picture.

To put it in a few words. I've struggled hard to do whats shown in the video but i just couldnt find a solution to this.
