Poll: XY(Z) controls

Until know, XY(Z) controls in FL have only been helpers on top of existing knobs. I'm considering making standalone XY(Z) controls, which wouldn't require knobs, and would display a double or triple automation popup, however it wouldn't necessarily be a step forward, especially if the knobs are used. But are they?
