How to install 3rd party vsts

I am baffled, I downloaded some 3rd party VST's, and followed instruction on putting the dlls in the VST folder, than I opened FL Studios went into channels, add one, than more. could not find my new vst's in the list as in the tutorials. So I am baffled on how to access these VST's? I'ved used these same VST's in other programs with no problems.
