Hi, everyone,
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide. I appreciate and value your opinions.
I am wondering what the best realistic drums plugin would be for me.
A little background, I have a home recording setup, write songs, record songs, etc. The songs lean towards the rock or pop rock genres, I would say. I have been using FPC up to this point, but I don't seem to be able to get the drums to sound three dimensional, despite the fact that I route the different drums to their own channels, etc. It could simply be my lack of experience mixing drums at this point, and that relates to my question. Here is what I'm looking for:
- A plugin with great preset midi grooves. I sometimes will modify or build a beat, but most of the time right now, I just prefer to use premade grooves. I don't always have a lot of time to spend on my music projects at this point (unfortunately!).
- Something that sounds good without a lot of mixing. I am able to mix, but I would like something that sounds good without me having to spend a lot of time on it. I can do some tweaking if need be, and I would prefer if it is pretty user friendly.
- A plugin with flexibility. I would like to be able to vary the tempo and effects as I need to, and not be stuck with too much compression on a sound, too much reverb, etc.
I have been leaning towards one of these three:
Steven Slate Drums 4 Platinum - I hear that you get some nice sounds out of the box, without much mixing required. I also heard that there are a lot of grooves included. A complaint I've heard is that the presets are too over the top, but I am capable of tweaking.
FXpansion BFD3 - I have heard great things, but I'm not sure if this is a program I would need to be much more into tweaking for.
Superior Drummer 2.0 - I have heard good things about the sounds and ease of use.
Anyway, what do you guys think, considering the user habits I described? Would there be one that would fit the bill more than others? What do you like to use?
I know a lot has been written on all of these, but I thought I would get the opinion of fellow FL Studio users before making the final decision.
Thanks, guys!
Peter
