"Lost Connection" to all bridged plugins in 64 bit

I was trying to open a project with many 32 bit plugins in 64 bit, because the project won't open in 32 bit, it took about 20 minutes to open, and when it finally did, all the bridged plugins had an error message that the plugin has lost connection. I tried opening several backup versions of the project and they all did the same thing, then I tried a new project and add a 32 bit plugin and that also lost connection.

This all got solved with a restart. I'm using 12.0.1. What could have caused this? Is this a known issue?
