To dev's: "Total time spent on project" > how is it calculated?

Out of curiosity, how is this calculated?

I regularly leave my PC open with a project loaded in FL (sitting idle), or sometimes just let it play away for some time in the background. But those times don't seem to add to my 'time spent on' value in Project info.

That's ok with me, it really isn't working time on the project. But what triggers it, and are there intervals/release times after that?

My current project reads 15 hours, but it's been open for much more then that.
