Unable to do quarter notes or however long I want a note to be

I recently purchased Fl Studio Producer edition and was working fine up until I had finished with the drum beat on my second song. Before I was able to drag the notes however long I wanted them to be but now I can't do that. Now if I drag it, it hops, there is no dragging. This is really frustrating since you can't make a song when you are unable to drag a note however long you need it to be.
