Recording internal midi to pattern?

Okay, so I've run into a snag. Here's what I'm trying to do:
I have a kick drum audio file of a drummer playing a song, except it wasn't recorded very well, so I'm using a free drum trigger tool which basically replaces the audio that goes into it with midi info, which I then route to a drum vst. That way I can replace the recorded kick with my own sample.

Here's the problem... The trigger has a delay and isn't always 100% right on time when it triggers the midi notes. If I wanted to record the "internal" midi info to the piano roll so that I could quantize it, how would I go about that? It's not the same as recording midi that I'm playing from my keyboard, since it's not recognizing the trigger as an actual external midi controller... Anyone have a solution?
