I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking about upgrading my CPU/MOBO. I don't want to spend more than 400$ for the combo preferably, but I have been looking at the new AMD Ryzen offering, and noticed that it was 8 cores @3.7Ghz. My current CPU is a 2600k overclocked to 3.4GHZ, at 4 cores, and I am very unhappy with it currently. I know I likely won't see double the performance, but that should be a pretty big jump yeah? I mean, it's doubling the core amount, split into 16 threads. Is that not f**k tastic for parallel processing?
There is even a 16 core they are releasing in August. They're calling it the "threadripper"
