Bass Volume Not Loud Enough/Drowning out other Instruments

Hi there, I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to FL Studio, so apologies if I make any mistakes. Basically, no matter what kind of bass I try to make, the volume of the bass is never loud enough, and even when I try to make the bass volume louder, it just drowns out all of my other instruments/sounds. It's gotten to the point where I'm really confused and I don't really know what to do. I listen to lots of Electronic and Electro music, for example the music label 'Monstercat', and the songs that artists make on there always sound sharp and loud, which is what I want my music to sound like, which kind of makes me sad to be honest. Some things that I've tried are compression using Maximus, and I've also tried using EQ 2 to make it louder, but to no avail.
