Please enable empty pattern recording while performance mode is ON....FL20

I was just using Performance Mode and laid out the "accompaniment patterns (backing tracks)" in case I wish to play melody on an empty pattern but problem was that I have to switch back to Step Sequencer Mode just to record and on top of that I have to do it on one of any of those pattern, I was thinking of doing it on an empty pattern while one track is playing to get some Melodic ideas.

I also wish for a Tool that creates an empty pattern based on a "pattern length" when my mouse pointer clicks on an empty grid while on performance mode
