Using a plugin synth as extra voices to a hardware synth

Hello, I'm new to this forum and have been wondering if this is possible in flstudio:

I have the Roland system 8 synth and the system 8 vst plugin. in fl studio using the system 8 as a controller is there a way, perhaps in patcher, to program it to start using the system 8 plugin as extra voices once 8 keys are being held simultaneously?

this would help a lot when using the sustain pedal with piano/rhodes like synth sounds without reaching the edge of the voice limit and hearing it steal voices or do this thing where pressing the keys no longer produces sound once it uses all 8 voices.

so in other words combine the hardware 8 voices and software 8 voices to have 16 voices triggered from the hardware keyboard during a performance
