An 80s setup in FL

Hi all!

Recently I've been really intrigued by the 80s music. And especially by the idea that there was no internet back then (as we know it now), and no abundance of the plugin and all the digital music production goodies we take for granted today.

So I began to wonder how could I build an 80s studio setup in the box, in FL. I have VA synths (using mainly Retrologue) and drum machine samples from pretty much all the machines that were around - that ground is covered.

My questions concerns mostly the mixing and recording side of things, like

- should I limit the amount of mixer channels I have available (and how many would that be?)
- what kind of effect plugins am I allowed to use?
- how abundant was MIDI gear (how much of all the synth-things were sequenced, how much was recorded audio?)

I'm not looking to be an 80s purist soundwise, but rather find a new approach to production and through that, a new sense of joy in my favourite artform.

Thanks in advance! :)
