This is the crux of all of the issues fl has been having since 2011, roughly.
production in 2007 would have taken no more than a few soundfonts, and some simple midi patterns, possibly sylenth1 (massive would have taken an entire cpu to run one instance)
I think music back then was much better in quality, more emotions were able to be conveyed. whether was due to a better software/hardware is what I would debate. I would argue that my headache level has gone up to the point somebody is in the hospital
production in 2011, more complex, but cpu and ram efficiency in fl studio or any other daw was minimal and workflow was fast.
overall, since 2011, I think ram and cpu efficiency in fl studio are exceptional compared with the other daws, but compared with what it was like to run a 32 bit daw, there is much work to be done, to make 64 bit composing the same as it was, before the switch in architectures.
