Little base question

Hey guys , im just trying to figure out a little problem with base volume. How can you make base really sound really hard - yet for it not to clip. I know some will say theres a limit i know. But you hear those house songs with some base thats just crazy sometimes. The real question is if theres a useful effect i can add on for this anywhere - a trick or something you may know. - Thanks in advance for helping me out -
