DJing for n00bs pt. 2.

Just to follow up on the original "DJing for n00bs" thread, I played tonight. Thanks for the great feedback guys. I played for 15 minutes. Before I've even started playing the second track a 6 feet tall lesbian as*hole told me to play some latin stuff, I said "No I only play house" and she's all disgruntled and stuff and into my 4th song they come telling me that "If you can't play reggae then we don't want you to play" I say "Fine I'm not playing some random rubbish, which I don't like - I'm leaving", the lesbian looks at me, gives me a thumbs up and says sarcastically "just look at the dancefloor, you rock!", then the previous DJing genius who's been doing some neat "tricks" on the f.uc.king crossfader replaces me and starts playing the same ethnic/latin/reggae bullsh*t he's been playing for hours. And to think, me and my friends had been laughing at him all night for all the silent gaps between his tracks and the ridiculous out-of-key-and-tempo crossfading he's been doing for hours, boy were we wrong - he's an equilibrist of some sort playing what a bunch of pretentious artsy fartsy hippies want. It was totally surreal I, had planned a great set and everything was going fine, perfect beatmatching, in-key switching and complementary FX ... Or so I thought... And to put this straight I didn't get paid a single cent and I got one single beer (which were 2 dollars in the bar) for free. So if you want to be a DJ and have a satisfied crowd, throw all the beatmatching, the fx and the "show" out of the window and play what ever the drunk a.ss idiots want to hear... I even considered getting a midi interface, but f.u.ck that, I'm sticking with producing and letting the poor id.iot we call a DJ take the trash for playing the stuff... The DJ isn't a god, the DJ is a circus clown.
