Drumaxx polyphony issue, or what?

If you listen to a song, and someone's doing like 1/8th note hi-hats, you -hear- them every strike. In Drumaxx, the hi-hats often seem to get sucked up by the kick or the snare. LIkewise, one issue (which I've turned partly to my advantage) is that like...two snare pads of different qualities, combined in the same hit, will morph into a completely different sound than either of them that works far better than either alone.

But why does this happen? Limitation, or what? I want my hi-hats to be fully audible all the time, even when in the presence of a hard kick or snare hit. Ideas?
