not at all - you could set your beat going (remember the patterns you trigger can be set to loop - nothing to stop you having a clip with your whole track laid out if you wanted), sing/play your phrase, then jump back on your controller and mash what you've played... The key is just planning and practise. Have you ever seen dubfx or tim exile? They do far more complex stuff than this (and make it look easy - which it isnt lol ).
