A discussion about ableton

I would just like to point something out to image line/gol. I don't know if anybody else has noticed, but many popular artists started using FL studio, but then later in life moved onto ableton. Examples include Skrillex, deadmau5, laidback luke, and I'm sure there are other examples. Do you guys refuse to see some of the amazing features Ableton offers? I'm finding myself leaning more and more towards ableton. Don't get me wrong, FL will always be dear to me, and it has many features that ableton doesn't have (Dry wet knobs on every plugin, newtone, pitcher, sidechaining ANY perameter and many more), but the very basic things that ableton offers for an enhanced workflow are just MUST HAVE. It's something that I didn't think mattered until I tried it.

Freezing tracks:
This is such a staple, I don't understand how FL doesn't have a feature like this. Sure, one could "record" a single track, and wait for 4 minutes to record the track for the whole song. One could do a render, and then pull up a menu to import the audio file, in which case you better not have any latency causing plugins, because if you do you will have to manually align the track. In ableton, you right click and hit "freeze", which right away saves CPU. Then if you want to have the actual rendered audio, right click again and select "Flatten".

Automation:
I can't STAND FL's automation after having been introduced to the way ableton handles it. If I want to add an extra automation piece in FL for a 3rd party plugin, I have to create a new track to create space for the automation lane, then go to the drop down menu for the fruity wrapper, select "Browse perameters", search for the perameter to automate, right click and select "Create automation clip". At this point, I better hope that the only place with any empty space available for the lane of automation is the track I want the automation to land on, because otherwise it will create the clip somewhere towards the top, on something completely unrelated, and I have to go searching for it to drag it down to where I want it.

Now, consider how ableton handles this. Open the 3rd party plugin, touch a knob, and ableton automatically brings that lane of automation to the forefront, at which point I can manipulate it. If I want to automate something else, I simply click on a different perameter, and ableton organises it all automatically.

I continually find myself when using FL, thinking the song could be better if I automated some perameter, but am often too lazy to actually go through all the crap FL makes you go through.

Organizing:
In FL, to create a new instrument and remain organized, you must create an instrument, rename the instrument in the step sequencer, rename the track in the playlist, and then again rename the mixer track. That's 3 operations to stay organised. Ableton in comparison, you create a track and name it once. That's it. No extra steps to stay organised.

Groups:
The ability to select several tracks, or instruments, or effects and hit ctrl+g to group them all together saves an enourmous amount of time. The applications of this are great. In FL, if I want to have all the drums sent to a single channel, I have to select each channel and have it sent to the same channel. In ableton, I select all the tracks, and hit ctrl+g. Ableton is also wonderful for grouping instruments and effects, but thankfully you guys created patcher, which is an amazingly helpful tool, but still not as easy as hitting ctrl+g.

I'm sure there are more, but escape me right now. My point is that there are many vital features that FL studio is missing, that other DAWs offer. VERY useful features. And until image line does something about it, they will only lose more and more customers to ableton.
