init song with position reset

so sometimes i init a mixer channel or knob or something with "init song with this position" then i decide that i don't want to do that anymore. if im mixing and want to constantly change volumes until i know where i'm at, it seems there's no way to erase the "init..." option. am i correct? obviously, i could set the init to a new value, but then i have to do that every single time i start and stop the song while im mixing.
