Maximus noise gate tutorial help, please

Hi-

I'm trying to do the noise gate tutorial for Maximus and I'm missing something basic.

I'm using the Maximus NoiseGate Tutorial .wav file as per the Help file, and my problem is when I get to this part:

"Drag the point back up to the 1:1 line and slide it down this path to the lower left until you find a better low cutoff point. Look for a point where the hum is gated when the vocals stop but that allows most of the tail of the vocal through."

Would some kind soul be nice enough to do a video of this? I'm using the demo and 99% sure I'm going to purchase, but if I can see how to do this that would definitely seal the deal. I have basically no experience with FL envelopes and I'm having trouble visualizing the bolded part. I think 1:1 is a 45-degree angle(?), but that seems to leave very little room for adjustment, at least the way I'm trying to do it.
