As it turns out, FL Studio is workable on Ubuntu Studio Linux (via Wine). Something that can drastically improve latency is to change to FL Studio's own ASIO in audio settings. On my system, it seems to work without needing JACK nor WineASIO.
You may need to run Regedit from a console and import your registration file before installation of FL Studio 12, and you may also need to install the Microsoft Windows core fonts. Disabling compositing and doing other conventional Linux DAW tweaks will help get better latency and fewer glitches. Discussing the Linux tweaks is beyond the scope of this post, but it may still be helpful to know about FL Studio ASIO since it makes realtime MIDI overdubbing possible.
There might be some difficulty with the visuals of the plugin-picker though. So don't use it in Linux.
Thanks Image-Line for keeping it compatible with Linux! Version 12 is easier to use than version 11.
