Controll an external vst automation clip with a midi control

I'm using for example massive and wanna record the cutoff with my novation zero controller.

i tried 2 ways.

1. create automation clip and assign it to the cutoff....no probs...but...i dont wanna make my automation with the mouse..wanna make it with the novation zero controller.

2. i just set the automap of the controller for the massiv. Press record in fl-studio and record my ''auomation''. my problem is that i can record only that long as i have some notes played in pianoroll. i dont wanna record just the loop..

can someone help me plz! is there a solution to record it in a clip or somehow?
