Note keeps playing after I release key?

This is probably a feature but I'm trying to understand why it happens:

1. Start off with the default Sytrus preset. Play some notes on your MIDI keyboard, notes should play with instant attack and instant release.
2. Without changing anything in the modulation matrix, which is by default set to only output OP1, select OP2 tab.
3. Enable OP2's volume envelope by selecting the small round checkbox in the bottom-left corner.
4. Then drag the release point (the last point of the envelope) quite generously towards the right to make the release part longer.
5. Now play a note.

Problem: You will notice the note continues to play even after you release the key on your MIDI controller. The sound is coming from OP1, but the volume envelope for OP1 is disabled, and the OP2-to-output knob is set to 0, so why would OP2's volume envelope affect OP1's volume envelope?
