Tips on adding a click/ clap to my kicks?

I have been trying to recreate the DNC_KICK sound included with FLS. I have been using Edison to monitor my efforts. My I got my wave form looking very similar to the DNC_KICK waveform and at times it I could mine beginning to sound similar as well. But cant seem to get it just right. I want to know if anyone has any tips on adding something along the lines of a click/ clap to a kick. I usually end up with more of a tone etc or a tick. I have been using nothing but sytrus. using a separate operator I tried noise. I tried many different things. I tried synthesizing the kick operator with the click operator. I tried just layering?!?! the click operator or playing them together by having the outputs for both the kick and click and kick operators turned up. This is very frustrating. The DND_KICK has a nice snap and thump to it. I want to know how that is done.

Does anyone know of any good tutorials on this? I checked youtube and found nothing good. Thanks.
