Recording into Direct Wave

I'm trying to record into DW with no luck.

I'm running the VSTi version of direct wave in an effects slot.

I'm on the sample tab, and I can see audio coming into DW (on the vu meter in DW) when I click "monitor", but I don't see anything being recorded when i click record.

Any suggestions?
