Getting a fake "slur" sound

Ok so I have a set of pretty good horn samples and placed them all into direct wave. The problem is that they have have a build up sound to them because they're "legato" notes. I came up with the idea that I could move the start sample forwards on the notes i wanted slurred so they would start at the full volume part then add a fairly quick attack to them in the zone tab to make them not have the click. I linked all the samples to a control surface but it only changes the 'start' sample of the sample that is highlighted. Is there an easier way to do this or a work around for what I'm trying to do?
Thanks!
