MIDI Triggering drumpads dont work, kb does

Hi guys,
Ive been testing out this VSTi plugin to see if it would be worth it to purchase as part of my rig.
I'd like to trigger the plugin while its on with my electronic drumkit.
My Alesis DM5 works great on all applications within FL Studio 4 studio pro, and works great with the Fruity Drumsynth Live which is essentially trying to do the same type of work as the DirectWave does by assigning instruments (hihat, tom) to a specific key.

Now the problem Im having is that DirectWave seems to work with my RolandED midi keyboard when plugged in but not the Alesis module.

Can anyone help me? All of my channels are on the default -- channel ive even tried to placing them in channel 1 to no success.

Just a little bit of info on electronic drums midi info:
On the Alesis module there are several inputs that get information from the drum pads. This is just the volume (0-128 ) and wether it is on or off for each hit.
Each input on the module assignes each pad at C at different octaves.
ie, snare channel is C1, kick at C2 etc.
So now you have an understanding about the difference of the e-drumkit and the midi keyboard triggers.

I just dont know why Directwave doesnt understand this when some of the other vstis do.

Any clues?
