Ive been testing "nki" format in Directwave and have noticed the FX delay/reverb etc in the "Program" section fail to apply, tested "sf2" just to make sure and all works fine.
The original Instruments I tried were big files so I've found these (free) for test purposes, just one-shots with nki presets.
