Strange unexplained clipping and unwanted noise

Having a strange problem with the videos I've rendered with ZG , and cant figure out what it is.

The video itself is fine and renders correctly , but before the sound even starts , there is a distorted clicking , like a metronome , but the metronome is turned off. It plays throughout the whole track.
Also , the sound is distorted , even though the meters aren't in the red , and i've tried both the asio4all drivers and my m-audio fasttrack pro asio drivers. Its most noticeable in the bass and the higher tones aren't affected , except for the strange distorted metronome-like click.

I've rendered the wav on its own , previous to this , and its fine on its own , but whenever I try to do video and sound , there is always saturation / distortion.
