Multiple MIDI buttons to perform action - Possible?

Is there any way you can use the input of two midi buttons or keys at the same time to trigger something? Say I hold two buttons down on my controller, which both individually do their own thing, but when pressed together, could say mute an effect or something? Is this possible?
