How do I alternate between plugins using a keyboard?

Hi,
I just recently purchased an Alesis keyboard controller and was wondering how (if it's even possible) I can use the buttons to switch between synth plugins in my project? The idea would be for me to be able to play one part of the song with one sound but then be able to switch synths by pressing a button on the keyboard and then play another synth in my channel list (for example, start by playing with Harmor but at a certain point press a button on my keyboard and it loads up Sylenth). Would save me from happen to open the synth using my laptop to change it and would be much more efficient in a live performance situation...anyone know how to do this or whether it's possible?
