Akai mpk249 not recognized by FL

Hi,
Fl studio does not recognize the Akai MPK249 keyboard. I have turned this brand new controller on, selected "Preset: 11 FL Studio", opened FL Studio, gone to Options > Midi Options, and refreshed, but still FL does not recognize the controller. I have spent hours reading on-line forums and Youtube. No answers posted.
Any advise?...
