Gate and swing remind me a bit of a galloping horse....that is to say, while staying on beat adjusting swing and gate outside of a neutral position will alter the sound of the beat...in any case, it seems that the neutral settings for the akai mpk controllers may be something as follows:
Gate: 0-99 = 50 as the neutral setting...anything below 50 seems to produce a gate that lags slightly and anything above 50 seems to produce a gate that is slightly advanced.....
Swing: 50-75 with 50 as the neutral setting.......
the above could be correct or close to correct.....and has setting up a "note repeat" that syncs with fl studio
