Akai MPK mini "E" key doesn't respond

I'm using an Akai MPK mini keyboard and every key works except for the "E"key. The midi input activity indicator just flashes blue when I strike the key.The midi control setting is set to "generic controller" since Akai isn't listed. It seems this key has been rendered nonfunctional somehow on the FL end. It doesn't work no matter what plugin I use. I know it's not the controller because it works when I change octave, so it's just E in one specific octave. . Please advise. Thanks.
