Well the differences are not very pronounced - maybe also a bit subjective on my part ...Maxx Claster wrote:No, the number of voices and sequencer - it's all the same. It's not 100% exact conversion, because TBio uses "physical" envelopes, that's the main difference, so here it can be different a little.pannoctis wrote:The sound is great with the supplied banks!
Only - at least to my ear - converted Toxic III presets seem to sound a bit more defined in Toxic III than in Biohazard. the converted presets also seem to use less voices and have slightly different arp settings.
Has anybody else also had this impression?
Toxic Bio has another way of counting voices. Yep, now polyphony is 32, but - it doesn't count unison. So, it's 32* 8 unison voices in faact. That's why you may see polyphony is smaller in TBio - but it's the same, just represented in another way.
In any case, if you have a preset that sounds too different in TIII and TBio, please send it here - I will try to find what the reason is.
Here are some randomly picked presets from the default bank I felt sounded a little bit different (there probably are more):
SEQ Signal: Toxic III has more kick on the first high note than Bio
SEQ Play It Slow 2: the 3 note combo is more defined in Toxic III, in Bio it blends more (legato-like)
SEQ AnotherSaw: there is a deep echo that shifts its tone with each pattern cycle in Toxic III - it stays constant in Bio
SEQ DnB: Toxic III pattern is completely constant, whereas something is shifting in the Bio pattern
SEQ TranceStuff: Slightly fatter in Toxic III than Bio
BAS Fury: More punch in the attack with Toxic III than Bio
Bas Punch: Slightly more punch in the attack with Toxic III than Bio
OK - those were just some examples - maybe no big deal - there are also cases, where I like the Bio version more >
SEQ Running: Bio sounds more raw (which in this case is a good thing)
Generally I listened to all presets in their default state and in general Toxic III default gain is higher than Bio by approx. 15% - so I had to turn up the Bio volume a bit for a fair comparison.
