Is Fl 8 that unstable and cpu intensive ???

Hello,

I dont know why this is, but I installed the FL 8 RC3 on my PC and started to make a beat. After adding some instruments and using one sample as a Audio clip, my cpu started to show only about 22 %.
BUT as soon as I opened the maximizer plugin or the Fl limiter, the song started to have troubles in playback with alot crackles and clicks....only as long as I have the vst-effect windows open, when I close them its back to normal....why is that ?
My PC is an Intel P4 2,3 Mhz and 1 GB Ram....so it shouldnt do anything wrong.

Thanx
