I'm extremely curious; what were people initially thinking before they created these sounds? Like Daft Punk in Human After All, with the stereo effect 'Yeah' sounds, which Porter Robinson uses from time to time in his songs. Even the preset 'Roboter' for Sytrus; I looked at it and didn't understand how that sound could have come out, nor could I comprehend how anyone created this.
What I'm most curious about is how Wolfgang Gartner creates those choir/woman/ghost sounds in Fire Power (doesn't come out often, but you do hear it). Does he use V-synth for that?
And even about sounds in general, how do people make original sounds anyway? Do they imagine the sound first and then create it, knowing exactly what to do? Honestly, all I can create is hundreds of variations of the same sounds, like saw basses, plucks, and squares. Does anyone know the direction I should take?
Oh and, is hardware better than softsynths in general?
