Synthmaker midi in does not receive from host into fl vsti

Make an fl vsti ...put a synthmaker into that. Use the synthmaker midi in to receive on a port and channel (or all). Go back to FL host. Add a midi out at that level. Target it to the port and channel of the synthmaker midi in... now put some notes into the fl midi out, and hit play... go back up to the fl vsti instance... look at the synthmaker midi input ...it does not receive the notes.
