Pagewide footer + limit to sidebar

Hi,

In a webside based on template hristo21-v1 i've set the footer to page wide.
Next I want to limit the sidebar to stop above the footer.
Done this by changing width and height for footer and sidebar in CSS-Styles.
However inEDIT-mode everthing seems to be OK but in BROWSE mode (or in preview) only the change for the footer is visible.
What am i doing wrong?

Can you also tell me where i can find the macros used ion a template??
