Protect Website

This is something I came up a longer while ago.
What can I do to protect a complete website???? For example: When you go to the website, just a window opens with username and password.
As I understand, now in EZ I can protect content and footer - but not complete design/project. While Iam working on this project (with many editable pages) I dont want that anybody see this new design??
