Home page not detected (page not found 404)

Hi
I have a problem with mobile devices with my site. If I select 'detect all small screen devices', I get a 'home' button and nothing else on entering the site and have to click that to get menu (home page is unavailable)- If I 'don't detect mobile phones', I get a Page not found 404 message. Home page works ok on PC. (I want to use original pages on mobile devices but detect small devices)

Any help appreciated please.
