I've been really enjoying first couple months using Morphine. It is really a monster synth, with incredible
potential. And though programming can be a bit tedious, very interesting new tones are possible.
In the hopes that further development might still be possible, I thought I'd kick around a couple feature ideas.
I've only briefly tinkered around with the sub-harmonic series, but I think it would be interesting if
Morphine could have some function to allow inclusion of sub-harmonics in the series.
This could be nice for sound design, bell tones, etc.
In case some of you are not familiar with the sub-harmonic series--
where overtones are whole number multiples of the fundamental frequency,
sub-harmonics are in this series 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 (what's that series called?)
The intervals generated are beat-less and fit together, but sound very strange
as they are not commonly found in natural vibration systems in the world--
except for some metallic objects (?-- I think). A loudspeaker might produce
one sub-harmonic-- but not the series.
Here's an example if Middle C (C4) is the fundamental:
1/2 = C3
1/3 = F2
1/4 = C1
1/5 = Ab0
1/6 = F1
1/7 = D1
1/8 = C0
I'm pretty sure that's right.
