Understanding Patterns

Hy there,

can I play "Pattern 1" for a specific Channel in the Sequencer, or does the Pattern 1 always represent all existing Channel-Patterns with the number 1?

I try to figure out, how to arrange patterns in the sequencer. If I create for example some melody for Channel 1, Pattern 1 (beat 1). Additionally, I record
some scores for the instrument in Channel 2 (on the same beat). Now, it seems, that I can only insert "Pattern 1" into the sequencer, which contains
*both* Pattern 1 from Channel 1 and from Channel 2.

So, I can't arrange it for example, so I have "Pattern 1 just from Channel 1" on the first beat. On the next beat, I'd like "Pattern 1 from Channel 2"
(instead of always playing those two "Pattern 1" at the same time).

How can I accomplish this?

Thank you,
maxx
