Patcher guitar amp? simple idea

I've been wondering if there was possible to make a simple but decent guitar amp with image-line plugins and patcher. So I've tried this approach today:

guitar ->
waveshaper(creaty tinny/bright distortion) ->
convolver(add punch and low-end after distortion) ->
EQ (final shaping)

I've discovered that on my guitar effects pedal, the distortions often sound tinny and weak on their own, but through a cabinet sim they sound great.

For the waveshaper map, I think a "zigzag" pattern is best to achieve the tinny mostly high-end sound.

For the convolver impulse, I've tried both snares samples and reverb impulses. Both need to be shortened to start sounding okay, obviously. You can edit the waveform directly inside fruity convolver.
Also, if the sample/impulse doesn't quite do the trick, you might be able to make up for it with the EQ. In this case it's mostly about adding low frequencies to a tinny distorted signal anyway.

Is this a decent start? Edits welcome.

There's a simple guitar sample in there, so you don't have to record guitar yourself to play around with the preset.
