CPU usage

Hi, yesterday I got a new Macbook air (the latest model with 1,8 ghz i5, turbo boost up to 2,9 ghz, 8 GB ram) and today I installed the latest mac alpha version of fl studio. However the first thing I noticed was that my cpu usage went up 80% on the demo projects and the sound was cracking and popping a lot. I have a windows laptop with worse specs and I don't have any such problems there, so is this just because of the unstable alpha version or is there any ways I could optimize the cpu usage? I'm using the internal sound card with default buffer length settings.
