Play Position Cursor malfunction/glitch

So I just bought Fl studio 12 and there is a problem with it. when i play any sounds the PLAY POSITION CURSOR doesnt even show up and slide across the screen as its supposed to when you press play so i cant even tell what my position in the playlist is. This also happens in the channel rack, no cursor at the bottom appears not allowing to track which part of the songs its at. It started showing once but was glitching back and forth, them completely stopped again. It should be working at all times. this needs to be adressed.
