MPK49 Macbook/Parallels/Windows7

I am having trouble getting set up.

I am using a MacBook Pro 2.5GHz Intel Core i5 , 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 , OS X 10.9.2
Parallels and Windows7

I would like to use an AKAI MPK49 usb/controller

I followed this youtube tutorial precisely

The other problem is when I try to set up a template

I go to FILE, New from template, Empty
When I select Empty my whole computer crashes. It goes blank/black and then I am looking at my enter password screen.

I know this may have to do with settings on my MacBook but I am wondering if this computer is even powerful enough to run this stuff.
Note: I don't have any other major software on the Mac OS and FL Studio is all that I have on the Windows side
